How we calculate prices and estimates

An honest number is worth more than a low number. Here is where every figure on Andove comes from.

Flights

Flight prices come from Travelpayouts (the Aviasales network): they are the lowest fares recently seen by other travellers for that route, in the month you chose, round trip, taxes included. They are not a real-time quote: at the click you open the search on the provider's site with the same dates and see the current fare. Checked baggage, seat selection and priority on low-cost airlines are extras and appear at the click.

Hotels

For hotels we use a city estimate: the typical cost of a decent double room in low and mid season, updated by hand. Cards say “estimate” next to the hotel line. At the click you open the price comparison with your dates and choose the property yourself.

The total and “about X left”

The estimated total is flight (times travellers) plus hotel (times nights). “About X left to spend there” is the difference between your budget and the estimated total: an order of magnitude to decide with, not a promise.

“Non-stop flights only”

With the box ticked we ask the network for non-stop fares only: usually fewer and pricier. If a destination has none, it disappears from the results.

What we do not do

No teaser prices, no invented discounts.
We add nothing to the provider's price: you book on the official site, at the price you see there.
We do not publish figures about the commissions we receive: they vary by provider and have nothing to do with what you pay.
